ὑπο την αἱ τοι καθ’ ὑποκειμένου λέγεσθαι ὄν ομα φωνὴ σημαντικὴ περί τινων σημαινο μένων δὲ τὰ σημαντικά τινων ὀνόματα ε ταὐτὸ δυνή σεται κατηγορουμένοις τινῶν. οὐ δεῖ δὲ λανθάνειν ἡμᾶς ὅτι Ἀνδρονίκῳ καὶ ἄλλοις ἐδόκει μὴ μόνον τὰ ἐν τῷ τί ἐστι κατηγορούμενα καθ’ ὑποκειμένου κατηγορεῖσθαι, ἀλλ’ ἤδη καὶ ἕτερα, ὥσπερ τὸ μουσικὸν κατὰ Ἀριστοξένου καὶ τὸ γραμματικὸν κατὰ Ἀριστάρχου καθ’ ὑποκειμένου κατηγορεῖσθαι, καὶ Ἀθηναῖος κατὰ Σωκράτους. ἴσως συμπεριληπτέον καὶ ταῦτα. πάντα μὲν γὰρ καθ’ ὑποκειμένου ἐν τῷ τί ἐστι λέγεσθαι, ἀλλ’ εἴπερ καὶ καθ’ ὑποκειμένου λέγεσθαι ὅσα λέγομεν κατηγοροῦν τές τινος, ἐκεῖνο εἶναι.
